America: Opening the Window of Freedom
In the midst of personal, ministry and national challenges, the Church in America has an immediate and significant assignment which must be fulfilled. The prophet Isaiah said God was whistling (Isaiah 5:26 & 7:18) for the nations to quickly align with His plans.
We are in a window of time when nations are shifting at an accelerated pace. Within recent weeks, long standing political leaders in the Middle East have been removed as some are fighting to maintain their control. Many commentators have addressed the important issue of what type of leadership will be set in; what role Islam or Sharia Law may have and how this will affect U.S. foreign policy; and specifically, the primary responsibility of our national government, which is the safety and security of the American people.
We want to call attention to what can potentially be a historic Kingdom opportunity. We see several patterns worthy of notice. In America and abroad, there have been serious violations of scriptural teachings and moral guidelines concerning federal government. We must not be deceived by recent political ploys in the U.S. to govern from the middle. We've witnessed an embedded, unrestrained, oppressive government in many nations. We see God addressing these tyrannical systems and some dictators are falling.
The message of awakening and reformation was never intended solely for the religious community. God's revelation starts with His people, yet is meant for all His creation. There is a global awakening unfolding. Our Declaration of Independence says it best: "That whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." The Church will be wise to take note of this sign that awakening is on the move -- internationally.
Lessons in Freedom
On January 21,1985, President Reagan delivered his second inaugural speech. He turned attention toward international relations, peace and security. His words were powerful and prophetic. He said, "Since the turn of the century, the number of democracies in the world has grown fourfold. Human freedom is on the march. America must remain freedom's staunchest friend, for freedom is our best ally."1 In

1987, President Reagan decreed, "Tear down this wall." In November 1989, East Germany issued the order for the gates to be opened and the wall was eventually removed.
In Romania, Pastor Laszlo Tokes and his wife Edith were committed to the gospel and unwilling to bow to the dictator Ceausescu. On December 15,1989, as the secret police came to forcefully remove them from their church, little did they know their small band of committed believers was about to be the catalyst to remove the oppressive leader and set a people free. When people of the community saw this band of brothers standing around the building and preventing the police entrance, they took their stand as a "flame of hope sprang up within the crowd."2 Through the night and into the next day the people stood firm. Something significant happened that afternoon as for the first time in their lives they began to shout, "Liberty! Freedom!" This was followed by students who began to sing the communist banned patriotic song, "Awake Romania!" On December 17th the police beat and removed the Tokes. From the church, the crowd moved to Timisoara square where hundreds were shot yet stood strong. By December 25th, Romania was a free nation, an evil ruler was removed, the people rejoiced and praises to God were heard from many church buildings.
Freedom is once again marching forward and ILE's passion is to support this march wherever its journey leads. We need to understand our Kingly authority under the Lordship of Christ Jesus and release decrees opening the windows of freedom! We believe the role of the Church in America is to fuel the fire of freedom. Oppressive governments anywhere are a threat to freedom everywhere!

ILE calls for the Church in America to stand with the righteous remnant in these foreign lands. As in Isaiah's day, God is whistling!
