Liberty Will Come to Those Who Love It

On January 20, 2001, during his inauguration speech, President George W. Bush said, "Some seem to believe that our politics can afford to be petty because, in a time of peace, the stakes of our debates appear small. But the stakes for America are never small. If our country does not lead the cause of freedom it'll not be led."

These words were spoken at a time when the greatest recent conflict in our nation was the 2000 presidential election results. Less than eight months later on September 11, 2001, the soul of our nation was awakened as those who "simmer in resentments and tyranny - prone to ideologies that feed hatred and excuse murder" executed their evil plans on innocent lives and an unsuspecting vulnerable America.

In his January 20, 2005, inauguration speech, President Bush said, "We do not accept the existence of permanent tyranny because we do not accept the possibility of permanent slavery, liberty will come to those who love it."

William Wallace imageWe concur that if America does not lead the cause of freedom, freedom will be overrun by the schemes of Satan. We understand freedom and liberty are first spiritual dynamics and ultimately found in the Kingdom of God. Therefore, the awakened Church must lead the assault against darkness and tyranny in our day! So often the Church abdicates her responsibilities to civil government or community groups while preaching a message of reformation and dominion. Our cry today is that the Church will embrace the Father's call for liberty and freedom in the individual as well as the nations! The Great Commission is still about a corporate church discipling the nations. The Church is the best hope for freedom!

May we not look primarily to politicians for freedom and liberty in our country. The scriptures and history are clear that righteous men and women stood against tyranny and gave their lives for the last words victoriously shouted from the mouth of the great William Wallace as he was tortured - "FREEDOM!"
